Curtis Almquist accountant and management expertise

Hello

My name is Curtis Almquist and I have had a long career of doing accounting, bookkeeping, accounting software,  and other business related activities for over 35 years.  Beyond a career that I have thoroughly enjoyed, more importantly, I am proud husband, father, and grandfather.   Watching my family stretch their wings and accomplish their own dreams is a blessing beyond words.

My Story

It all started in grade school with the decision to be either an accountant or an archeologist.  Living in Texas, becoming an archeologist was not a practical option so accounting it was!  While furthering my education, I interned with a CPA firm in Beaumont.  After completing my education at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with a degree in accounting, I started in the Oil & Gas Industry as an accountant at Union Texas Petroleum.  I found the industry extremely interesting and found myself focusing on the financial side but also found interest in the operational aspects of processing plants and pipelines.  After just a couple of years and an asset divestiture, I had an opportunity to move to Denver and a manager level position with Western Gas Resources.  Managing people was a new challenge added to my skill set along with future opportunities to work beyond the accounting field with a business development role which expanded my business knowledge into sales, negotiations, financial modeling, and a stronger tie into the operations of energy assets.  With another accounting management position with KN Energy came another asset divestiture that brought me to Oklahoma and an accounting management role with ONEOK Field Services where I expanded my business knowledge into regulatory reporting and tracking ownership in land leases and wells.  During my time in Denver and Oklahoma, I worked on moving our accounting system from a spreadsheet system to a software package (TIPS) being developed to handle accounting for gas processing plants.  This activity blossomed into working in software design and development with what is now Quorum Software.  My experience grew again with product management, project management, sales, implementations, consulting, and being part of the leadership team for the midstream practice area.  My final role with Quorum was heading up an outsourcing group handling accounting responsibilities for start-up oil and gas companies which exposed me to business start ups which I found exciting and challenging.  As my career came to an end with Quorum, I took on a entrepreneurially mentality and started with a franchise in the quick service restaurant space.  I have been doing this for the last five years and with my accounting background, I handle all of my own daily accounting activities along with every other activity that comes with ownership.  Now with this under my belt, I am taking the next challenge and beginning my own bookkeeping firm to apply all of my experience to assist small business entrepreneurs following their own dreams.  That brings me to you and hope to begin a mutual beneficial business relationship,  Can't wait to meet you!
